Walmart Expands Drone Delivery to 150 More U.S. Locations

Walmart and drone delivery company Wing announced they’re expanding their service to 150 additional Walmart stores across the U.S. this year. When the rollout is finished, the two say more than 270 Walmart locations will offer same-day drone delivery.

What’s Related

The expansion follows existing operations in Dallas–Fort Worth and Metro Atlanta, where people are already using drone delivery for everyday items. Wing says its top customers order by drone about three times a week, and overall deliveries have tripled in the past six months.

New markets include Los Angeles, St. Louis, Cincinnati, and Miami, with more cities to be named later. Walmart and Wing are also moving forward with previously announced launches in Houston, Orlando, Tampa, and Charlotte, with Houston starting service on January 15.

“Drone delivery plays an important role in our ability to deliver what customers want, exactly when they want it,” said Greg Cathey, Senior Vice President of Digital Fulfillment at Walmart. “Whether it’s a last-minute ingredient for dinner, a must-have charger for a phone, or a late-night essential for a busy family, the strong adoption we’ve seen confirms that this is the future of convenience.”

“We believe even the smallest package deserves the speed and reliability of a great delivery service,” added Wing CEO Adam Woodworth. “Working with Walmart has allowed us to prove that delivering these critical, everyday items in minutes makes a significant difference for families.”

For Walmart, the continued push into fast delivery comes on multiple fronts. In 2025, the company rolled out same-day refrigerated and drug delivery from select stores, aiming to get cold groceries and prescriptions to customers quickly. And by the end of last year, Walmart reported it was delivering about 35% of digital orders in under three hours through its network of stores and fulfillment points.
