Technip Energies, a French engineering and technology company, on Wednesday said it has secured two large contracts from Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) for projects at the company’s Bina refinery in Madhya Pradesh and Mumbai refinery in Maharashtra.

According to an official statement, the first contract involves engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning for new polypropylene and Butene-1 units at the Bina refinery.

The units are designed to produce 550 kilotonnes per annum of polypropylene and 50 kilotonnes per annum of butene-1. The work forms part of BPCL’s broader Bina expansion plan, which includes increasing refinery capacity and adding a new cracker and downstream petrochemical facilities.

“These awards reflect our client’s confidence in our engineering capabilities and our ability to deliver complex projects. With our strong local presence and decades of expertise, we are proud to contribute to India’s energy infrastructure and economic growth,” said Davendra Kumar, Managing Director of Technip Energies India.

The second contract covers engineering, procurement and construction management services for a three million tonnes per annum Petro Resid Fluidised Catalytic Cracker Unit at BPCL’s Mumbai refinery.

The release added that the facility will be the country’s first PRFCC unit, intended to convert heavy refinery residues into lighter products. The scope includes auxiliary units as well as associated offsites and utilities.
