The latest strike comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East linked to the ongoing conflict involving Iran, the United States and Israel.

A fire broke out at a petroleum facility at Fujairah port in the United Arab Emirates after a drone strike hit the harbour.

Videos circulating online showed thick smoke rising from the area after the strike. Following the incident, oil loading operations at the port were suspended and authorities began assessing the damage, according to Bloomberg.

In an official statement, the Fujairah Government Media Office confirmed that the fire occurred at a petroleum industry facility.

Authorities said specialised emergency teams responded to the incident and contained the fire at the site.

Civil defence units were deployed immediately after the strike and began containment operations, while emergency services continued efforts to fully control the situation.

The latest strike comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East linked to the ongoing conflict involving Iran, the United States and Israel.

Fujairah port has faced multiple attacks in recent days, with earlier drone strikes triggering fires at oil storage facilities and disrupting some loading operations.

Strategic role of Fujairah port

Fujairah port is one of the world’s major oil storage and bunkering hubs. Located on the Gulf of Oman, it lies outside the Strait of Hormuz, allowing the United Arab Emirates to export crude oil without relying on the narrow waterway through which a significant share of global oil supplies passes.Because of its location and role in global energy trade, the port holds economic and security importance for the UAE and international markets.
