Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 28, 2025, chaired the ninth edition of the Prime Minister’s Roundtable with global energy leaders on the sidelines of India Energy Week (IEW) 2026 at his residence in New Delhi, bringing together 27 CEOs and senior executives from leading international energy and infrastructure companies.

The gathering included leaders from top-tier energy and infrastructure firms such as TotalEnergies, bp, Vitol, HD Hyundai, HD KSOE, Aker, LanzaTech, Vedanta, International Energy Forum (IEF), Excelerate, Wood Mackenzie, Trafigura, Staatsolie, Praj, ReNew, and MOL, among others.

During the dialogue, the global business leaders expressed profound confidence in India’s economic trajectory. They highlighted their keen interest in not only expanding their current operations but also deepening their strategic business presence within the country.

This sentiment aligns with India’s robust economic momentum as it advances rapidly toward becoming the world’s third-largest economy — a shift that is expected to play a decisive role in balancing global energy demand and supply.

Addressing the gathering, the PM emphasised that despite the uncertainties currently marking the global energy landscape, India stands as a reliable and trusted partner across the entire energy value chain. He noted that India’s energy security is bolstered by a diverse sourcing strategy, importing energy from 40 different sources and LNG from 18 sources, while simultaneously exporting petroleum products to over 150 nations.

Highlighting the massive scale of potential growth, the PM drew attention to substantial investment opportunities within the domestic energy sector. He outlined a staggering investment potential of about $100 billion in exploration and production, $87 billion in refining and petrochemicals, and $72 billion in the natural gas sector.

PM Modi made a strong call for increased innovation, collaboration, and deeper strategic partnerships. He reiterated India’s commitment to being a stable pillar for global energy players, inviting the CEOs to be part of the nation’s transformative journey toward a sustainable and secure energy future.
