The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (ONGC) on Saturday said it has brought Well Mori-5 under complete control within just five days after a blowout occurred during service operations, marking one of the company’s fastest well-control operations to date.
The incident occurred on January 5, 2026, where service contractor Deep Industries Ltd was conducting workover operations. ONGC immediately activated its Crisis Management framework, mobilising specialised teams and equipment to swiftly and safely contain the situation.
According to ONGC, the successful capping of the well signifies the formal closure of all field-level updates related to the incident.
In a statement, ONGC conveyed gratitude to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, the Konaseema district administration, and the local community for their consistent support throughout the operation.
With well control established, ONGC reiterated its commitment to adhering to the highest standards of safety, environmental protection and operational excellence across all its sites.
