New Delhi: Green hydrogen initiatives worth an estimated ₹2,00,000 crore are under implementation in the country, with nine R&D and demonstration plants under construction and four already commissioned by Indian Oil, GAIL, HPCL and BPCL, Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri said on Friday.
The Minister said that 42 kilo tonnes per annum (KTPA) green hydrogen tenders have been floated by refineries and 128 more tenders will be issued by PSU refineries based on the outcomes of the current ones.
“Alternative sources of energy are playing an important role in India’s quest towards green energy transition as we provide momentum to efforts to achieve energy security under guidance and leadership of PM Narendra Modi,” Puri said in a post on X.
He said he held an interaction with a large number of stakeholders from the green hydrogen sector to review efforts being undertaken across all four verticals—production, transportation, storage and application.
“In an engaging interaction with a large number of stakeholders of the green hydrogen sector we discussed efforts being undertaken in all four verticals of the rapidly emerging sector – production, transportation, storage & application,” the Minister stated.
