EcoVadis Sustainability Ratings Become Searchable on Amazon Business

Amazon Business now allows sellers to display verified EcoVadis sustainability medals and badges directly on B2B storefronts across major EU markets.

The integration responds to rising regulatory and buyer pressure for verifiable supply chain transparency and data driven ESG performance.

Procurement teams can now filter suppliers by independently assessed sustainability credentials, reshaping competitive dynamics for B2B sellers.

Sustainability Signals Move Into the Buying Interface

Sustainable procurement has moved from policy statements into the mechanics of how companies buy. EcoVadis has announced that sellers on Amazon Business can now display verified EcoVadis Medals and Badges directly on their seller profiles, making sustainability performance a visible and searchable criterion at the point of purchase.

The new functionality allows business buyers using Amazon’s B2B marketplace to identify suppliers with independently assessed environmental, social, ethical and procurement practices without leaving the platform. For sellers, it places sustainability credentials alongside price, availability and delivery, elevating ESG performance from a reporting exercise to a commercial differentiator.

Procurement Pressure Intensifies

The launch comes as companies face tightening supply chain due diligence rules and mandatory sustainability reporting across Europe and beyond. From corporate sustainability reporting standards to human rights and environmental due diligence laws, procurement teams are increasingly expected to demonstrate not only internal compliance but also responsible sourcing across supplier networks.

In this environment, verified third party assessments are gaining weight. Buyers are seeking evidence that suppliers meet defined standards across emissions management, labor practices, ethics and responsible purchasing rather than relying on self reported claims.

“The market is demanding radical transparency. Buyers want to align their procurement strategies with their corporate values, and EcoVadis is the global standard for making that alignment possible,” said Pierre Francois Thaler, co CEO and cofounder of EcoVadis. “By enabling the display of a verified EcoVadis medal directly on Amazon Business, a B2B solution used by thousands of active sellers across Europe alone, we are empowering procurement teams to make faster, more confident, and more sustainable purchasing decisions, while rewarding the proactive sellers who are investing in their sustainability performance.”

How the Integration Works

Sellers that have completed an EcoVadis sustainability assessment and earned recognition can now showcase that status on Amazon Business. Eligible recognitions include Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum Medals, as well as the Committed Badge.

For buyers, the signal is immediate. Each displayed medal confirms that the seller has been assessed across the four pillars of the EcoVadis methodology: Environment, Labor and Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. Amazon Business customers can also filter search results to prioritize sellers with verified sustainability profiles, effectively embedding ESG screening into everyday purchasing workflows.

This functionality reduces friction for procurement teams that are under pressure to balance cost, speed and compliance while documenting sustainable sourcing decisions for internal governance and external reporting.

Deepening an Existing Partnership

The move builds on a long standing collaboration between Amazon and EcoVadis that began in 2018. Amazon already uses EcoVadis tools including Ratings, IQ Plus risk mapping, Vitals and Carbon Action Manager to support its own sustainable procurement and decarbonization efforts.

The new seller facing integration aligns with Amazon’s broader sustainability agenda, including its Climate Pledge commitments, by extending sustainability incentives across its supplier ecosystem rather than limiting them to internal operations.

“The integration of EcoVadis recognition on Amazon Business product pages is a direct response to our customers’ growing focus on sustainable purchasing,” said Jennifer Carroll, Senior Certifications Manager at Amazon Business. “Amazon Business Sellers in the EU can now showcase their verified sustainability credentials through EcoVadis medals and badges, making it easier for business customers to make informed procurement decisions.”

What Executives and Investors Should Watch

For corporate leaders, the development highlights how sustainability data is moving closer to transaction level decision making. Platforms that aggregate suppliers are increasingly shaping market behavior by privileging verified ESG performance within search and discovery tools.

For sellers, particularly small and mid sized enterprises, the visibility of EcoVadis recognition on Amazon Business creates both opportunity and pressure. Sustainability investment now carries a clearer commercial return, while laggards risk reduced visibility as buyers apply ESG filters by default.

The feature is available immediately across EU Amazon Business stores, including the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Italy and Germany, for EcoVadis Premium, Select and Corporate subscribers. As regulatory scrutiny and buyer expectations continue to rise, integrations like this signal a shift toward sustainability becoming an operational requirement rather than a reputational add on in global B2B trade.
