Ocean services provider DeepOcean and Jana Marine Services Co. LLC (KSA) have signed a Heads of Terms agreement to establish a joint venture, JADE Subsea Services, that will deliver integrated subsea construction, IMR (inspection, maintenance and repair), and diving support services for the Middle East offshore energy sector.
The partnership will leverage DeepOcean’s global subsea engineering and project management capabilities alongside Jana Marine’s extensive regional experience and fleet of 35 offshore support vessels. As part of the agreement, JADE Subsea Services will enter a five-year charter for a new hybrid-powered DP2 diving support vessel, Jana 201, currently under construction in China and set for delivery in Q3 2026.
Equipped with a 12-man saturation diving system, dual air diving spreads, ROV systems, and a 100-tonne crane, the 98-meter vessel will serve as the joint venture’s main operating platform, providing subsea construction and maintenance capabilities for oil majors across the Arabian Gulf.
“Jana Marine brings local expertise and fleet capability, while DeepOcean contributes subsea engineering and technology. Together, this partnership will deliver a highly competitive and fully integrated subsea services solution for the Middle East,” said Øyvind Mikaelsen, CEO of DeepOcean.
The move strengthens DeepOcean’s regional presence following its 2025 acquisition of Shelf Subsea and the opening of its Abu Dhabi office, further cementing its position as a key subsea services provider across the Gulf region.
