H&M Signs Multi-Year Deal to Integrate Recycled Cotton in Products with Recover

Materials science company Recover announced that it has entered a multi-year agreement with fashion and design brands company H&M to supply its recycled cotton fiber, RCotton, for use across the latter’s product ranges.

Madrid-based Recover turns textile waste from post-industrial and pre- and post-consumer origins into high-quality recycled cotton fiber and fiber blends, including its 100% pure and unblended recycled cotton fiber, RCotton, through mechanical processes and operates five recycling hubs across Europe, Asia and the Americas.

The company has said that its global footprint, traceability capabilities and focus on fiber quality are aligned with the needs of major fashion players seeking consistent and transparent supply chains for recycled materials. It works closely with global retail supply chains and positions its solutions as both environmentally responsible and cost-competitive.

Anders Sjöblom, CEO of Recover, said:

“Reliable access to recycled fibers at scale, with full traceability and quality consistency, is vital for the industry’s transformation. Our collection demonstrates how innovators and leading global brands can work together to make circular fashion available to all.”

H&M is targeting 100% recycled or sustainably sourced materials by 2030, including 30% recycled materials by 2025. In 2024, it increased recycled content in its products to 29.5% and raised its share of recycled or sustainably sourced materials to 89%.

According to the companies, the new agreement deal follows a collaboration on product development that began in early 2024, which will now enable scaled commercial introduction of Recover’s mechanically recycled cotton into H&M’s collections.

Ulf Krigsman, Head of Material and Components at H&M, said:

“We want to grow our business decoupled from resource use and extraction, with products and materials circulating at their highest value. To increase the availability and affordability of recycled and sustainably sourced materials, we invest in, test and scale innovative solutions and infrastructure. Recover’s expertise and proven ability to deliver recycled cotton at commercial scale make them a valuable partner as we work toward our goal of using only recycled or sustainably sourced materials by 2030.”
