Weatherford International plc has been awarded an eight-year contract by SNGN Romgaz S.A., Romania’s largest natural gas producer and Europe’s third largest. The agreement covers real-time digital wellsite monitoring across thousands of gas wells, marking Romgaz’s first deployment of such advanced production technologies.

Under the contract, Weatherford will deliver dynamic wellhead data and transmission services through cloud-based infrastructure. The initiative will provide Romgaz with continuous visibility into field performance, enabling AI-driven insights, smarter production decisions, and improved efficiency.
“This milestone reflects Romgaz’s commitment to digital transformation and operational excellence,” said Weatherford President and CEO Girish K. Saligram. “Our monitoring technologies will help optimize production and lay the foundation for building the fields of the future.”
Romgaz CEO Razvan Popescu added that the collaboration represents a strategic step forward, noting that real-time wellsite monitoring will provide actionable insights for more efficient operations and align with the company’s innovation goals.
Weatherford’s monitoring solutions capture high-fidelity well data and integrate with automated infrastructure for proactive interventions. By combining these capabilities with AI and digital workflows, the system is expected to enhance recovery, extend well life, and ensure long-term reliability of Romania’s gas sector.
