Baker Hughes announced it has secured a major contract from Turkish Petroleum (TPAO) and the Turkish Petroleum Offshore Technology Center (TP-OTC) to supply subsea production and intelligent completion systems for Phase 3 of the Sakarya Gas Field, the cornerstone of Turkiye’s Black Sea energy strategy.
Under the agreement, Baker Hughes will deliver deepwater horizontal tree systems, subsea structures, and advanced control systems to support gas production at depths between 6,500 and 7,200 ft. The company’s intelligent upper and lower completions technologies will provide multizonal subsurface control, designed to optimize production efficiency and reliability.

Baker Hughes has been a partner in the Sakarya project since its inception in 2022. The company’s GaffneyCline energy advisory unit has supported reservoir and technology evaluations, while its lower completions solutions have been deployed to optimize production from thin-layered Black Sea reservoirs.
For Phase 3, Baker Hughes will integrate its completions technologies—including InForce™ HCM™-A interval control valves, SureTREAT™ chemical injection valves, SureSENS™ QPT ELITE gauges, REACH™ subsurface safety valves, and the SC-XP™ Select Zero Loss stack-pack system—with subsea production infrastructure to enhance operational efficiency.
Deliveries for Sakarya Phase 3 are expected to begin in late 2025.
