FedEx adds six new Mercedes-Benz eVito electric vans to strengthen its Hong Kong delivery fleet

Move supports FedEx’s global goal of carbon-neutral operations by 2040

Hong Kong customers, especially Gen Z and Millennials, are increasingly choosing brands with strong sustainability commitments

FedEx is accelerating its sustainability agenda in Hong Kong with the deployment of six new electric panel vans, furthering its commitment to carbon-neutral global operations by 2040. The vehicles, Mercedes-Benz eVito models, are equipped with a 913-kilogram load capacity and a range of 264 kilometers per charge, optimized for last-mile delivery across high-traffic districts.

“Adding new EVs to our local delivery fleet underscores our commitment to enhancing Hong Kong’s contribution to FedEx global sustainability efforts,” said Anthony Leung, managing director, FedEx Hong Kong and Macau. “With growing demand for reliable and sustainable options among Hong Kong customers, expanding our EV fleet is crucial for supporting sustainable development. As we work towards our goal of carbon-neutral global operations by 2040, FedEx is dedicated to transforming the logistics industry with innovative and sustainable solutions that meet evolving market needs.”

The new EVs not only cut emissions but also improve operational efficiency through lower running costs and reduced air pollution. FedEx highlighted that Hong Kong consumers are increasingly sustainability-driven, with surveys showing that 73% consider environmental factors when selecting brands, while nearly half (49%) have stopped buying from companies that fail to prioritize sustainability.

FedEx aims for a 100% electric pickup and delivery fleet by 2040. Alongside vehicle electrification, the company continues to expand initiatives such as FedEx® Sustainability Insights, a digital tool enabling customers to track the carbon footprint of their shipments. Locally, FedEx has also partnered with social enterprises to repurpose unused uniforms and shipping materials, advancing circular economy practices and reducing waste.
