Daimler Truck adds eActros 600 to its truck rental fleet

Under the CharterWay brand, Daimler Truck offers quick and flexible solutions in Germany from one day up to three years, including electric trucks. Since June 2025, customers have been able to rent the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 via CharterWay.

Daimler Truck does not disclose the exact electric share among the 6,000 CharterWay trucks, but all current models are represented. Customers in Germany can rent the eActros 300 and 400 – though their production will end later this year – as well as the eEconic, the eArocs 400 for construction applications, and the Fuso eCanter, alongside their diesel counterparts.

Daimler Truck has now officially added another model to the portfolio. It already announced in January that it would add over 100 eActros 600 units to the CharterWay fleet this year. Since June, the model has been available for hire. “With the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600, we enable a sustainable and cost-effective alternative for heavy-duty haulage and make the entry into electromobility simple and risk-free,” said Martin Kehnen, CEO of CharterWay.

The eActros 600 is the flagship of Mercedes-Benz Trucks and has been in series production since November 2024. The first vehicles were handed over to customers in December of the same year. Only weeks later, the manufacturer signed a major contract with online giant Amazon for 200 units of the eActros 600 – the largest electric truck order to date for Mercedes-Benz Trucks. In the months that followed, many more units were delivered to customers, including the haulage companies Brummer Logistik, UK delivery network HIVED, and Lidl Italia. More than a dozen Daimler Truck logistics partners are also using the eActros 600 for factory supply operations.

The eActros 600 owes its name to its battery capacity of over 600 kWh. The XXL electric truck also houses a newly developed electric drive axle with 400 kW continuous and up to 600 kW peak power, as well as a so-called front box, which bundles control units, high-voltage components and the electric air compressor in the former engine compartment. The electric flagship offers a range of 500 kilometres. It can be charged via CCS at up to 400 kW, and in future will support megawatt charging once the MCS standard is finalised.

With the eActros 600, CharterWay customers will now be able to cover long distances electrically – something that was previously not feasible, or only with additional charging breaks, using earlier electric models. As the rental solutions market in Europe “continues to grow strongly,” CharterWay saw it as a logical step to add the new model to its fleet. Daimler Truck had already explained in January that some customers are increasingly seeking integrated and flexible transport solutions, finding rental more suitable than purchase. Recently, Hylane also announced it would rent out 30 eActros 600 units to the DHL Group under its pay-per-use model.

For CharterWay, the eActros 600 will be part of a comprehensive Truck-as-a-Service model, offering customers more than just a vehicle. In addition to flexible rental periods, CharterWay customers will gain access to a modular service package at dealerships, including charging infrastructure, consulting, maintenance and digital services.

At the turn of the year, there will also be an organisational change: CharterWay will become part of Daimler Truck Financial Services (DTFS) and round off its service portfolio there. Until now, the business unit was part of Daimler Truck AG itself. The internal transfer is expected to be seamless for customers, as rental contracts and services such as insurance and maintenance agreements will continue “without interruption”.
