After unboxing a brand-new Nintendo Switch 2, the last thing you want to do is scratch the screen. After all, it makes up about 70% of the entire console! It’s no wonder that screen protectors are some of the most popular Switch 2 accessories you can buy.

The best Switch 2 screen protectors are available in several varieties, and some come with cases and other protective pieces. My top picks include budget options, like the simple Ivolver tempered glass protector, and more comprehensive packages like the Dbrand Prism 2.0, which comes with wipes and an air bubble brush.

You can find all of my best Nintendo Switch 2 screen protector recommendations below. And if you’re looking for other Switch 2 accessories, be sure to check out our guides to the best Switch 2 cases and best Switch 2 memory cards.

Dbrand’s “idiot-proof” screen protectors come with an alcohol wipe to enhance the seal and a comb to get rid of air bubbles.

Ivoler protectors are both sturdy and affordable, making them great for gamers on a budget.

AmFilm’s “auto-alignment” protectors take less than a minute to install.

Nintendo’s official Switch 2 case comes with its own screen protector and cleaning cloth.

GameStop’s official screen protector offers tough protection at a great price.

Savage Raven’s kit comes with a small cleaning kit to polish your Switch before and after you attach the protector.

The screen protector is only one part of this bundle, which also includes a carrying case and a charging cable.

This unique protector is a full-sized shield for the Switch 2’s entire front side, protecting it from damage when you’re not playing.

Switch 2 screen protector FAQs

What does ‘9H hardness’ mean?

Many glass screen protectors are listed as having “9H hardness.” Some may think this refers to the Mohs hardness scale, which compares the scratch resistance of different minerals, but this isn’t the case.

This rating actually means that a 9H pencil, which, according to most scales, uses the hardest type of graphite you can have in a pencil, won’t scratch the screen under normal conditions. Most tempered glass protectors equate to about seven on the Mohs scale.

All this is to say that 9H protectors are incredibly sturdy, yes, but they won’t make your screen invulnerable. Scratching the screen with enough force can still leave a mark.

Do screen protectors made for the original Nintendo Switch fit the Switch 2?

No. The Switch 2 has a 7.9-inch screen, which is bigger than the original Switch’s 6.2-inch screen, the Switch OLED’s 7-inch screen, and the Switch Lite’s 5.5-inch screen.

A screen protector made for the original Switch might stick to the Switch 2’s display, but it’ll leave a lot of space unprotected, making it a poor choice.

For more details about the differences between Switch consoles, check out our Nintendo Switch 2 vs. Switch 1 comparison and our full Nintendo Switch 2 review.

Does the Switch 2 come with a screen protector?

The Switch 2 does not include a glass screen protector, but it does come preinstalled with a safety film over the display. This film isn’t really made to stop your Switch 2’s screen from breaking, but to keep chunks of the screen from falling out if it gets cracked or smashed. That’s what the manual means when it says the film will “prevent fragments scattering in the event of damage.”

The film layer offers some protection. But it doesn’t compare to a thicker glass sheet.
