Seatrium Offshore Technology (SOT), a subsidiary of Seatrium Limited, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), India’s largest shipbuilder and repairer, to strengthen cooperation in the offshore sector.
The agreement aims to leverage SOT’s engineering expertise and offshore technology alongside CSL’s extensive infrastructure and fabrication facilities. The collaboration will focus on maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) projects across Asia, while also exploring opportunities in other offshore markets.
“This MoU is a strategic milestone in Seatrium’s efforts to expand our global footprint, with India identified as a key market for long-term growth,” said Winston Cheng, Senior Vice President and Head of SOT. “By combining CSL’s local capabilities with Seatrium’s technology strengths, we aim to deliver integrated offshore asset solutions to support India’s energy transition and maritime development.”
CSL executives said the partnership enhances the company’s offshore footprint and enables the delivery of cost-effective solutions to regional clients.
The MoU provides a framework for joint marketing, project execution and technology collaboration. It builds on a 2024 agreement between Seatrium and CSL covering design and supply of equipment for jack-up rigs serving the Indian market.
India is one of the fastest-growing energy consumers globally, with offshore expansion seen as critical to bolstering long-term energy security.
