New Delhi: Patel Engineering Ltd (PEL), in a joint venture, has secured a contract worth ₹958.33 crore from the Maharashtra Krishna Valley Development Corporation for the construction of a pipe distribution network linked to the Nira Deoghar Right Bank Main Canal between KM 87 and KM 135 and its distributaries.

The project is located in Kalaj village, Taluka Phaltan, District Satara, Maharashtra, and is scheduled to be completed within 36 months. The scope of the contract includes excavation and refilling of pipe trenches, construction of structures, supplying, jointing, lowering and laying of pipes, installation of various types of valves, chambers and outlets, and testing the pipeline with all valves and outlets. It also includes an operations, repairs and maintenance period of five years after the completion of construction.

The project will be executed through a joint venture, with PEL holding a 20 per cent share.

PEL had earlier been declared the lowest (L1) bidder for the project.

Commenting on the development, Kavita Shirvaikar, Managing Director, Patel Engineering Ltd, said, “We are pleased to have been awarded this project by the Maharashtra Krishna Valley Development Corporation. This project represents a significant step forward in enhancing irrigation infrastructure in the region and will play a crucial role in improving agricultural productivity and water management efficiency. At Patel Engineering Ltd., we view this as more than just a construction project—it is a long-term investment in the prosperity of rural communities and the resilience of our agricultural ecosystem.”
