One of Amazon Prime’s most exciting benefits is access to exclusive member deal holidays, like Amazon Prime Day from July 8 to 11, 2025. But even with that in mind, how does it compare to competing services like Walmart Plus?

Both subscription services offer free delivery and other perks, including video and music streaming and fuel discounts. The former costs about $40 less a year and has a lower minimum fee for free grocery delivery, while the latter has more robust streaming content and access to Amazon Prime Day.

While it’s true Walmart is planning to hold a competing sale, Amazon Prime Day deals tend to be better in quality and variety. Overall, both memberships offer value to different customers. Here’s how each one compares when it comes to their major offerings, like grocery delivery and streaming services.

Amazon Prime vs. Walmart Plus

Amazon Prime vs. Walmart Plus: Price

Amazon Prime: $15 per month or $139 annually

Walmart Plus: $13 per month or $98 annually

Amazon Prime vs. Walmart Plus: Shipping and groceries

Amazon Prime: Subscribers can choose between free two-day shipping on eligible products and free same-day shipping for certain ZIP codes on orders over $25. For free same-day grocery delivery, you need to order at least $100 worth of items or pay a delivery fee.

Walmart Plus: Walmart offers unlimited same-day delivery for grocery items, tech products, and household essentials. Members also get free shipping on orders from Walmart.com, excluding oversize and freight items and those shipped by third-party sellers. Subscribers can also upgrade to Walmart Plus InHome for $7 a month or $40 a year to get orders delivered wherever they want within their home, with tips included in the fee.

Amazon Prime vs. Walmart Plus: Streaming and entertainment

Amazon Prime: Through Prime Video, subscribers can access music, films, original TV shows, live sports events (including select NFL and WNBA games), Twitch benefits, and channels like HBO, Showtime, and Starz for an extra fee. You can also access 2 million ad-free songs and podcasts through Prime Music and choose from thousands of books with Prime Reading. Prime Gaming lets members play its library of free games.

Walmart Plus: A Paramount Plus Essential subscription is included with Walmart Plus, giving you ad-supported access to shows like “Evil,” “Survivor,” and the “Yellowstone” prequels, “1883” and “1923.”

Amazon Prime: The contactless Amazon Go convenience stores are open to the public and don’t require a Prime membership. Amazon Fresh stores are also open to anyone, but only subscribers using the Amazon Dash Cart can skip the checkout line.

Walmart Plus: Members can use the Walmart app’s “Scan & Go” feature so that they don’t need to scan items again at self-checkout.

Amazon Prime: You need an Amazon Prime membership to take advantage of the Prime Day and Prime Big Deal Days sales events. The former often takes place in July and the latter usually arrives in October; both offer incredible savings and some of the year’s best deals on tech, home goods, fashion, and more.

Walmart Plus: Members receive early access to Walmart deal events. Though Walmart doesn’t necessarily throw sensational holidays for its promotions, it holds sales during Black Friday and Amazon Prime Day, with prices competitive to those at Amazon. In general, Walmart’s deals pale in comparison to those of Amazon, but you can score equally good discounts on major products like gaming consoles, kitchen appliances, tools, and gardening.

Amazon Prime: Free unlimited cloud storage for photos and 5 GB of storage for videos, release-day delivery for some new products, Amazon Key In-Garage deliveries, and prescription discounts (which lets you make sure clothing items fit before you buy them) are just a few of the great Amazon Prime perks.

Walmart Plus: Additional membership benefits include gas discounts, free tire repair, Burger King discounts, online pet care via Pawp, travel rewards with Expedia, and the ability to make returns from home.
