(Investing)– Ukraine has agreed to the terms of a potential peace deal with the United States, according to a U.S. official who spoke to ABC News on Tuesday.

“The Ukrainians have agreed to the peace deal,” the official said. “There are some minor details to be sorted out but they have agreed to a peace deal.”
The peace plan presented to Ukraine in Geneva has been revised from 28 points to 19 points. The new version removes provisions regarding amnesty for acts committed during the war and limits on the future size of Ukraine’s military.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy confirmed that talks with the US about a peace plan are continuing. In a post on X, Zelenskiy said he spoke with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and shared “the latest details of our work on the steps to end the war.”
Zelenskiy noted that the Ukrainian team returned from Geneva and provided “a complete report along with an updated framework.” He expressed gratitude for America’s efforts and “personally for President Trump’s efforts” in the peace process.
U.S. Army Secretary Dan Driscoll held secret talks with a Russian delegation in Abu Dhabi on Monday, following discussions with Ukraine in Geneva over the weekend. These meetings are part of a new U.S. initiative to restart the peace process in Ukraine.
In his communication with Chancellor Merz, Zelenskiy acknowledged Germany’s support since the beginning of the war, including military, financial, and political assistance. The two leaders also discussed the agenda of Tuesday’s Coalition of the Willing meeting, which Germany is co-chairing.
