TruAlt Bioenergy, Karnataka-based biofuels producer, on Saturday said it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (APEDB) to set up one of the world’s largest sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) manufacturing facilities in the state.
The company plans to invest about ₹2,250 crore in an integrated ethanol-to-SAF plant with an annual capacity of 80,000 tonnes, to be located in the Srikakulam–Vizianagaram region of Andhra Pradesh.
According to the official press release, the proposed plant will convert sugar-based feedstock into ethanol, which is then upgraded into aviation-grade jet fuel.
TruAlt said that it would leverage its feedstock integration and ethanol production expertise to deliver low-emission, internationally certified SAF, enabling a dependable, large-scale supply chain built on India’s agricultural and bio-based resources.
Vijay Nirani, Managing Director of TruAlt Bioenergy, said the agreement represents “a defining moment in India’s clean-energy transition.” He added that the company aims to play a key role in helping India meet its upcoming SAF blending mandate and advance low-carbon aviation at scale.
The initiative aligns with India’s net-zero goals and positions the country as a potential global hub for sustainable aviation fuels, the company said.
