(WO) – TGS and its joint venture partner Viridien have released early results from the Laconia Phase III ultra-long offset ocean bottom node (OBN) survey in the Gulf of America.

The initial 5Hz Acoustic TLFWI (AFWI) data products are now available, covering the entire 151-block Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) area included in the project. According to TGS, these early results reveal significant imaging uplift across the Paleogene play, providing valuable insights to help reduce exploration risk ahead of U.S. offshore lease sale BBG 1 (lease sale 262) scheduled for Dec. 10, 2025.
Building on the early dataset, the project will deliver Fast Track 5Hz Elastic TLFWI (EFWI) products in the first quarter of 2026, followed by final 12Hz EFWI volumes in January 2027. The enhanced resolution and improved subsurface clarity expected from these deliverables will further support deepwater exploration and reservoir characterization across one of the Gulf’s most technically complex basins.

The Laconia Phase III survey builds on previous phases of high-resolution OBN data acquisition and continues the companies’ collaboration to advance imaging fidelity in deepwater Gulf of America exploration areas.
