(WO) – Texas Railroad Commission Chairman Jim Wright said Texas oil and natural gas production remains a cornerstone of U.S. energy supply in a letter to President Donald Trump, emphasizing the state’s role in supporting national energy security.
“Texas energy has long been the foundation of our nation’s economic strength and national security,” Wright said. “In times of global uncertainty, the continued development of American oil and natural gas resources—guided by responsible oversight and sound policy—remains one of our greatest strategic advantages.”
The Texas Railroad Commission regulates an industry responsible for roughly 43% of U.S. crude oil production and about 29% of the nation’s natural gas output. The agency also oversees nearly 500,000 miles of pipeline infrastructure across the state.
Wright said the commission remains committed to working with federal leaders and industry stakeholders to help ensure reliable domestic energy supplies.
