(WO) — RWE has completed the sale of its F.E.W. Baltic II offshore wind development project in the Polish Baltic Sea to Polish utility PGE, transferring full ownership of the planned 350-MW project.
The wind farm is expected to be located about 50 km (31 miles) offshore north of the Polish town of Ustka. The transaction follows an agreement announced by the companies in December.
As part of the deal, RWE also transferred an environmental decision and related data for the adjacent offshore development site 44.E.1 to PGE.
RWE said the sale reflects the companies’ view that PGE is better positioned to advance the Baltic II project within its broader offshore portfolio. The company added that the transaction does not change its strategy to continue expanding its global offshore wind business.
RWE currently operates 19 offshore wind farms across five countries, with a total installed capacity of 6.2 GW, including 3.3 GW attributable to RWE. The company also has four offshore wind projects under construction in Europe that are expected to add 4.8 GW of generation capacity once completed.
The company said it will continue supporting Poland’s energy transition through the development and operation of onshore wind and solar projects in the country.
