Rockwell Automation is planning a major expansion in Southeastern Wisconsin that could become its largest manufacturing campus in the world. The company announced plans to build a new greenfield facility as part of a broader $2 billion investment in U.S. manufacturing, digital infrastructure, and workforce development over the next five years.

The site will include more than 1 million square feet of manufacturing and warehouse space and will sit near Rockwell’s global headquarters in Milwaukee. Construction and planning are already underway with support from local and state officials.
The new facility will include advanced production equipment, robotics, and digital systems designed to speed up operations and improve accuracy. Rockwell says the plant will also provide employees with access to training and new tools as the company builds its workforce in Wisconsin.
“Designing a new facility presents the opportunity to create the future of industrial operations, with highly orchestrated production,” said Blake Moret, chairman and CEO at Rockwell Automation. “We are expanding our U.S. manufacturing footprint with advanced production capability that supports growth and performance with the latest Rockwell technologies and solutions.”
Gov. Tony Evers welcomed the investment, saying Wisconsin is the right place for the expansion. “I want to thank Rockwell Automation for their ongoing commitment to Wisconsin, our workforce, and our communities,” he said. “I look forward to seeing how this newest expansion will accelerate our statewide goals of building a 21st-century workforce and economy.”
Building roots in Wisconsin
Rockwell says the site will give its U.S. operations more flexibility as demand shifts. The company plans to equip the facility with modern tools and training programs, but leaders say the real advantage is its workforce.
Bob Buttermore, chief supply chain officer at Rockwell Automation, said the investment shows how much the company relies on its teams on the ground. “This investment reflects our confidence in our teams that deliver excellence every day,” he said.
The Southeastern Wisconsin location keeps Rockwell close to its global headquarters in Milwaukee and gives the company room to grow if production needs change over time. The plan aligns with broader industry moves to build more manufacturing capacity in the U.S. and respond more quickly to changing supply chain conditions.
