Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (ONGC) on Monday said it has mobilised its crisis management teams after a gas leak was reported during workover operations at Well Mori#5 in the Mori field in Andhra Pradesh.
PEC operator Deep Industries Limited reported the incident on January 5, 2026.
ONGC, in a regulatory filing, stated that the well is located in a remote area, with no human habitation within a radius of approximately 500–600 metres, and no injury or loss of life has been reported.
The area around the well has been cordoned off, cooling operations have commenced, and Crisis Management Teams (CMT and RCMT) have been mobilised, ONGC said.
Preparatory work is in progress to facilitate well-control operations and, if required, capping of the well, the company added.
ONGC also initiated coordination with international well-control specialists, including mobilisation arrangements to support advanced well-control and casing-cutting operations, subject to site assessment.
Senior management and technical experts are closely monitoring the situation, with additional equipment being mobilised from nearby locations, including Narsapuram, ONGC said.
