New Delhi: Oil India Limited (OIL) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) on Tuesday signed a joint venture agreement to establish a City Gas Distribution (CGD) network in Arunachal Pradesh.
According to the official press release, the project awarded under the 12th CGD Bid Round conducted by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board will include setting up compressed natural gas (CNG) stations and supplying piped natural gas (PNG) to domestic, commercial and industrial consumers.
The agreement was signed at BPCL’s corporate office in the presence of OIL Chairman and Managing Director Ranjit Rath and BPCL Director (Refineries) and interim CMD Sanjay Khanna.
“The establishment of City Gas Distribution in Arunachal Pradesh is a significant step in OIL’s ongoing initiative to realise the vision of bringing clean and reliable energy to the region,” Rath said.
Khanna said the joint venture reaffirmed BPCL’s commitment to expanding clean energy access across India, with special focus on the North-East.
OIL is already operating in Arunachal Pradesh with a legacy of hydrocarbon production and recently commissioned the Kumchai-Kusijan gas pipeline, reinforcing its role in advancing the government’s hydrocarbon vision for the North-East, the statement added.
