(World Oil) – Ocean Geophysics has partnered with subsea technology specialist EdgeTech to deliver advanced data processing software tailored for EdgeTech’s new eBOSS (Enhanced Buried Object Scanning System). The collaboration marks a step forward in offshore survey and subsea asset assurance, providing operators with more reliable tools for identifying and monitoring buried infrastructure in oil and gas developments.
The eBOSS system, developed over more than two decades, is designed to penetrate the seabed and detect buried or partially exposed objects that can impact subsea operations. By integrating EdgeTech’s hardware innovation with Ocean Geophysics’ geophysical data processing expertise, the new software will enable operators to visualize, analyze, and report eBOSS survey results with improved clarity and efficiency.
For the offshore oil and gas sector, the technology promises significant operational benefits. Accurate seabed imaging and early detection of buried objects are critical for subsea pipeline integrity, platform connections, and field development planning. Ocean Geophysics’ software provides high-resolution data interpretation that supports safer construction, reduces downtime, and ensures regulatory compliance in offshore environments where margins for error are limited.
Ocean Geophysics is initially offering in-house eBOSS data processing services, with a commercial software release scheduled for early 2026. The company said the platform will allow operators and survey contractors to integrate datasets quickly, cutting project timelines from weeks to days. EdgeTech noted that pairing eBOSS hardware with Ocean Geophysics’ purpose-built software creates a complete solution for offshore energy companies seeking to strengthen subsea project delivery.
With offshore oil and gas activity expanding globally, this collaboration underscores the industry’s growing reliance on digital tools to improve efficiency, safety, and environmental stewardship in seabed operations.
