At Busworld in Brussels, Iveco Bus presented a fully electric offshoot of the minibus version of the Daily transporter with low entry. It is called eDaily LE, where LE stands for Low Entry. It offers 13 seats and can carry a total of 27 passengers.
The fully electric minibus was developed by Iveco to meet the growing needs of public transport operators in this segment and is designed to support the energy transition. It is suitable for urban use and can be manoeuvred effortlessly through city centres – after all, at 7.60 metres long, it is significantly shorter than a standard 12-metre bus.
The eDaily LE is based on the eDaily electric van introduced in 2022. The minibus is available in both left-hand and right-hand drive versions. It can be equipped with either three or four lithium-ion battery packs, each with a capacity of 37 kWh. This results in a total capacity of 111 kWh or 148 kWh. The range with four battery packs is 270 km.
A full charge is said to be possible in just two hours at a fast charging station or in ten hours at an AC charger. Iveco has not disclosed the exact charging capacities. The motorisation also remains unclear at this stage.
Its design features, including a lowered entrance, grab handles and a side ramp for passengers with limited mobility, such as wheelchair users, are intended to significantly improve accessibility for all. The minibus has a 13-seat configuration and can accommodate up to 27 passengers. It is also equipped with a 15-inch monitor, a video surveillance system and USB ports at every seat.
The eDaily was previously available in a minibus version, but without low entry, instead featuring steps. Furthermore, this version is only available with three 37 kWh battery packs, rather than four as in the new eDaily LE. There are also minibus versions of the eDaily from body manufacturers: Iveco, for example, has just received a large order for 129 electric minibuses from the Lazio region in central Italy, in collaboration with dealer Romana Diesel and Spanish body manufacturer Indcar. At just under eight metres, these are around 40 centimetres longer than the new eDaily LE.
