Dan Naatz, executive vice president and chief policy officer at IPAA
The Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA) has promoted Dan Naatz to executive vice president and chief policy officer, elevating a longtime government affairs leader as the organization sharpens its advocacy for U.S. independent oil and natural gas producers.
Naatz has led IPAA’s policy and lobbying efforts on Capitol Hill for more than two decades, focusing on issues including federal leasing access, methane regulations and permitting reform. In his new role, he will oversee the association’s policy priorities and government relations strategy, with an emphasis on regulatory and legislative matters affecting independent producers.
IPAA said the promotion reflects the importance of policy engagement as the industry navigates evolving federal and state regulatory frameworks and seeks to maintain investment momentum in U.S. upstream development. As chief policy officer, Naatz will continue working with member companies and allied organizations to build consensus on key policy initiatives and strengthen the association’s presence in Washington.
Before joining IPAA in 2003, Naatz spent 12 years on Capitol Hill, including serving as chief of staff and legislative director for former Senator Craig Thomas of Wyoming. He also currently serves as corporate secretary on IPAA’s board of directors.
