Magnon, leader in renewable energy production with forest and agricultural biomass, ErasmoPower2X, developer of large-scale green hydrogen projects, and Power2X, a leading company in green molecule production, are jointly promoting a pioneering project for the manufacture of e-methanol in the Magnon renewable energy complex in Puertollano (Ciudad Real).
This pioneering e-methanol production project – which has renewable hydrogen in its composition – will connect with the Spanish Hydrogen Trunk Network that Enagás will develop. The company, designated Provisional Hydrogen Transport Network Manager (HTNO) by Royal Decree Law 8/2023, will connect production points with demand points.
Within the framework of the collaboration, Magnon will lead the capture of biogenic carbon and the integration of the e-methanol project in its biomass plant in Puertollano; Power2X and ErasmoPower2X will provide the green hydrogen from its photovoltaic (1GW) and hydrogen production development in Saceruela.
The project will strengthen Spain’s position as a European green molecule hub, generate new economic opportunities and quality employment in Castilla-La Mancha. In addition, it will contribute to attracting investments linked to energy innovation and to the value chains of hydrogen and renewable methanol as a basic element of petrochemical products that can evolve towards the generation of renewable fuels (eSAF), polymerization to plastics and even food base and biochemical industry.
