Poland’s Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK) has evaluated the applications for co-financing hydrogen production facilities of a minimum 20 MW and has allocated about PLN 2.7 billion (USD 733m/EUR 633m) to six projects.
The development bank has been engaged to disburse funds from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (KPO) to support Polish industry in meeting the objectives of the amended Renewable Energy Directive (RED III). They require at least 42% of renewable hydrogen in the industrial sector in 2030 and 60% in 2035, and a minimum of 1% in the transport sector.
The funding is to be granted in the form of non-repayable subsidies for hydrogen production installations. The maximum support per 1 MW of capacity may amount to some EUR 2 million (USD 2.3m).
The largest subsidy, of PLN 1.215 billion, has been awarded to the Orlen group for its Hydrogen Eagle renewable hydrogen production project. A company from the Orlen group, Lotos Green H2, will receive PLN 523 million.
