The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) announced today the appointment of sustainability reporting veteran Susanne Stormer as the Chair of the Global Sustainability Standards Board (GSSB), the governance body responsible for setting the GRI Standards.
GRI Sustainability Reporting Standards are one of the most commonly accepted global standards for sustainability disclosure by companies, developed to enable consistent reporting across companies and industries, providing clearer communication regarding sustainability matters to a broad range of stakeholders, including investors.
Founded by the GRI in 2015, the GSSB is an independent operating entity with sole responsibility for the development of GRI sustainability standards, which were launched in 2016.
Stormer currently serves as Leader in Residence at Copenhagen Business School, with a focus on Corporate Sustainability and Leadership, and she joins the GSSB after working at PwC Denmark from 2021 – 2025 as Sustainability Services Leader, providing sustainability advisory and assurance services. Prior to joining PwC, she served as Vice President of Corporate Sustainability at Novo Nordisk.
In addition to leading the integration Novo Nordisk’s sustainability reporting into its Annual Report, Stormer’s sustainability reporting resume includes serving as a member of EFRAG’s European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) Project Task Force, and as a SASB Standards Board Member, as well as a founding member of the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC).
