Major Clean Energy Boost: Google’s latest agreement supports over 600 MW of solar and solar-plus-storage capacity, expanding its renewable energy footprint in South Carolina.

Strategic Grid Investment: The deal strengthens local energy infrastructure while enabling Google to move closer to its 2030 net-zero goal.

Corporate Sustainability Partnership: This marks Google’s second clean energy partnership with energyRe, now totaling over 1 GWac of renewable capacity.

Google has signed a renewable energy agreement with U.S.-based clean energy developer energyRe, securing Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) from over 600 megawatts (MW) of new solar and solar-plus-storage projects in South Carolina. The deal aims to supply clean, reliable power to Google’s data centers and aligns with the tech giant’s goal to achieve net-zero carbon emissions across its operations and value chain by 2030.

“Strengthening the grid by deploying more reliable and clean energy is crucial for supporting the digital infrastructure that businesses and individuals depend on,” said Amanda Peterson Corio, Head of Data Center Energy at Google. “Our collaboration with energyRe will help power our data centers and the broader economic growth of South Carolina.”

This marks Google’s second collaboration with energyRe, bringing their combined renewable capacity to over 1 gigawatt (GWac). The projects are designed not only to meet Google’s sustainability targets but also to bolster the regional grid with locally sourced renewable power.

“This agreement is a milestone in energyRe’s mission to develop innovative and impactful clean energy solutions for the future,” said Miguel Prado, CEO of energyRe. “We’re honored to partner with Google to help advance their ambitious sustainability and decarbonization objectives while delivering dependable, locally sourced clean energy to meet growing energy demands.”

energyRe’s national portfolio spans solar, wind, transmission, distributed generation, and storage assets. Its mission: to create scalable, cost-effective energy solutions that reduce ratepayer costs and address surging electricity demand across the U.S.

This latest deal signals a growing trend among tech and energy players—leveraging large-scale clean energy partnerships to meet both operational needs and environmental goals.
