Google is investing more than $4 million in two water replenishment projects in partnership with Arable Labs, targeting watershed recovery and sustainable agriculture across North and South Carolina.
The initiative is projected to conserve over 500 million gallons of water annually over an eight-year period. It will bring smart-irrigation technology to 20,000 acres of farmland, enabling farmers to make more data-driven water usage decisions.
“We’re supporting efficient irrigation technology to improve watershed health in North and South Carolina,” Google said in a statement.
Arable Labs’ solution provides real-time insights into weather conditions, soil moisture, and crop health, equipping growers with tools to optimize irrigation and enhance long-term water resilience.

“These projects directly support our goal to replenish 120% of our freshwater consumption by 2030, while also improving watershed health in the communities we call home,” Google emphasized.
