Piped natural gas for homes in Delhi and NCR areas is now cheaper. Indraprastha Gas Limited announced a reduction of 70 paise per unit starting January 1.

New Delhi: Domestic piped natural gas (PNG) in Delhi and its surrounding NCR areas became cheaper by 70 paise per unit from Jan 1, with Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) announcing the cut in prices.

According to IGL, the piped cooking gas now costs ₹47.89 per standard cubic metre (SCM) in Delhi, ₹46.70 in Gurgaon, and ₹47.76 per SCM in Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad. Officials said nearly 25 lakh households were likely to benefit from the price cut. ” Indraprastha Gas Limited has announced a substantial reduction in its domestic PNG prices this New Year for its consume₹in Delhi and NCR by ₹0.70 per SCM…IGL reinforces its commitment to making clean energy both accessible and affordable as we step into 2026,” the company said on X. Sources said the reduction was effected after the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board overhauled the pipeline tariffs recently.

On Dec 16, Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board announced a rationalised tariff structure for pipelines that move natural gas – the feedstock for generating electricity, producing fertiliser, making CNG, and used as fuel in household kitchens. The revised tariffs, which are effective Jan 1, make natural gas transportation simpler, fairer, and more cost-effective for consume₹and the city gas distribution sector.
