Social and human capital data company Denominator announced today the acquisition of gender equality and diversity data provider Equileap, in a move described by Denominator as aimed at creating a global leader in Human Capital Data.
Founded in 2021, New York-based Denominator provides information aimed at enabling businesses and investors to navigate people-related matters across investments, procurement and corporate strategy. The company’s database spans millions of public and private companies globally, offering granularity on diversity, human rights, health & safety, labor practices, and workforce dynamics.
Amsterdam-based Equileap, founded in 2016, provides data to investors enabling the evaluation of companies across a broad range of diversity and inclusion criteria, as well as metrics covering race and ethnicity, with assessment areas including gender balance across all levels, pay gaps, parental leave policies, anti-harassment frameworks, discrimination controversies, and support for gender diverse employees. The company’s offerings include a Gender Equality Scorecard, assigning scores and rankings to researched companies.
According to Denominator, the combined company’s offering will cover 5.5 million companies and more than 1,800 data points to businesses and investors, including serving more than half of the world’s 20 largest asset managers. The company added that the acquisition comes as investors now have more mature frameworks for integrating climate and biodiversity in their investment decisions than for assessing human capital across portfolio companies and supply chains.
Anders Rodenberg, CEO of Denominator, said:
“This acquisition marks a pivotal moment. In the age of AI, access to specialized, high‑integrity data is critical. Integrating Equileap’s leading gender equality dataset strengthens Denominator’s ability to deliver smarter, actionable human capital insights – empowering investors to align capital with both values and returns.”
As part of the transaction, Equileap co-founder and CEO Diana van Maasdijk will also assume the role of Chief Commercial Officer of Denominator, while Equileap COO Lotte van der Stelt will take on the additional role of Chief Operating Officer of Denominator, overseeing operations across both companies and ensuring continuity and alignment.
van Maasdijk said:
“Equileap was founded to close the workplace equality gap – for everyone, everywhere. By joining Denominator and their AI infrastructure, we will accelerate that vision, broadening our reach and deepening our impact where it matters most.”
