(WO) – D-Tech Rotary Steerable has fully commercialized its OmniSteer™ rotary steerable platform after the tool surpassed one million ft drilled across multiple basins, marking a key milestone for the company’s decade-long development effort.
The OmniSteer platform has undergone more than ten years of engineering refinement and field testing, integrating upgrades in digital control systems, mechanical design and reliability, according to D-Tech. The unified system connects the company’s RSTConnect™ surface software with its downhole rotary steerable tool, enabling operators to calibrate and analyze tool performance in real time.
The platform includes updated firmware and automated steering algorithms designed to reduce downlink times and improve directional control. The company said the system has shown improved stick-slip mitigation and higher-quality downhole data in recent operations.
Physically, the RSS incorporates a streamlined mechanical architecture with fewer parts, upgraded hydraulics and wear-resistant components aimed at extending service life and lowering maintenance requirements. Its configurable design allows use in high-dogleg, geothermal and high-temperature environments.
D-Tech reports growing use of OmniSteer in North America, with additional uptake underway in South America, Europe and the Middle East as operators expand their rotary steerable portfolios.
