BYD announces UK pricing and specifications for new Atto 2

BYD has confirmed UK pricing for its fully-electric Atto 2 compact SUV. Available in two trim levels, the Boost variant starts at £30,850, while the Comfort model has a starting price of £34,950.

The carmaker states that in the UK, customer deliveries for the Boost will begin in September, with Comfort following later in 2025. Both models will also be offered with five years of free maintenance for orders placed before 30 September 2025. The Chinese company started offering the latter in response to other carmakers announcing rebates as they were waiting for government subsidies in the form of the Electric Car Grant.

BYD emphasises that the Atto 2 is its first compact model to integrate the company’s Cell-to-Body (CTB) technology, where the battery pack is structurally integrated into the chassis. This approach, combined with the brand’s Blade Battery, “delivers improved packaging and exceptional levels of body rigidity,” says BYD.

Two battery options are available. The Boost is fitted with a 51.1-kWh Blade Battery, delivering a WLTP combined range of 214 miles (302 miles in the city). It supports up to 82 kW DC charging, allowing a 30 to 80 per cent charge in 30 minutes. The Comfort is equipped with a larger 64.8-kWh battery, enabling a WLTP combined range of 261 miles, and supports 155 kW DC charging, reducing the charging time from 30 to 80 per cent to just 21 minutes. Both models also support up to 11 kW three-phase AC charging.

Inside, the Atto 2 is equipped with a 12.8-inch rotatable touchscreen, wireless smartphone charging, an eight-speaker audio system, intelligent voice control and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology, enabling external devices such as power tools or appliances to be operated directly from the vehicle’s battery. A standard heat pump is also included.

The Boost model is powered by a 130-kW motor delivering 290 Nm of torque, achieving 0 to 62 mph in 7.9 seconds, while the Comfort variant offers 150 kW and 310 Nm. Both are front-wheel drive, with a top speed of 99 mph. The vehicle measures 4,31m in length, 1,83m in width, and 1,68m in height, with a wheelbase of 2,62m. The Atto 2 is offered with 17-inch wheels and will be available in multiple colour options.

In Germany, the small EV went on sale back in March. Our German colleagues attended the premiere (you read their report here), and we already had a chance to test drive the EV ahead of the launch.
