Iberdrola España and Burger King signed a new long-term PPA for 34 MW of photovoltaic capacity, bringing the partnership’s total to 109 MW to serve the annual demand of more than 900 restaurants.

The agreement will supply 1,900 GWh of renewable electricity over the duration of the contract, supporting Burger King’s energy security and transition to renewables.

The collaboration also advances electrification at the restaurant level, including 348 EV charging points across 173 Spanish locations installed under a 2021 partnership with BP Pulse.

Iberdrola España and Burger King have expanded their long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with an additional 34 MW of photovoltaic (PV) capacity. The PPA now totals 109 MW, designed to meet the annual demand of more than 900 Burger King restaurants in Spain and deliver 1,900 GWh of renewable energy over the life of the contract.

The companies said the expanded agreement strengthens their long-running collaboration to promote renewable energy use and accelerate the electrification of operations. Iberdrola España and BP Pulse are currently managing 348 electric vehicle charging points at 173 Burger King restaurants in Spain, providing management and operational optimization services. The charging rollout began under a 2021 collaboration agreement.

“Iberdrola España and Burger King have been working together for years to promote the electrification of the restaurant chain as the most efficient solution,” said David Martinez, Business Director of Customers Spain at Iberdrola. “Collaborations like this are essential to support the growth of renewable energy. The PPA is the ideal tool for customers who want to secure renewable energy consumption at a fixed, competitive price over the long term.”
