The National Observatory of Brazil (Observatório Nacional) has purchased STRYDE’s Mini and Nimble seismic systems to support its geophysical research and exploration activities across Brazil, STRYDE announced on Tuesday.

The National Observatory of Brazil is one of Brazil’s oldest and most respected scientific research institutions. Founded in 1827, it operates under the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation, based in Rio de Janeiro, it is actively involved in:

Monitoring seismic activity across Brazil.
Providing scientific data and consulting for natural resource exploration.
Partnering with national and international organizations on frontier scientific topics like natural hydrogen, geothermal energy and carbon capture and storage (CCUS).

The first deployment of the STRYDE seismic systems will focus on a pioneering natural hydrogen exploration project.

The National Observatory’s project will leverage STRYDE’s lightweight and agile seismic acquisition technology to acquire high-density seismic data to gain unprecedented insight into Brazil’s subsurface structures.

“We are delighted to support the National Observatory of Brazil in their mission to accelerate scientific discovery and energy transition,” said Mike Popham, CEO of STRYDE. “Our Mini and Nimble systems are uniquely suited for operations in challenging and remote environments, enabling fast, efficient, and high-resolution seismic data acquisition, which is critical for early-stage hydrogen exploration.”

STRYDE’s Mini system offers unparalleled agility and ease of deployment in diverse terrains, while the Nimble system provides flexible, scalable data acquisition for 2D and 3D seismic surveys, research missions, or pilot projects.

“The use of STRYDE’s seismic systems will enable the Observatory to conduct advanced geophysical surveys with minimal logistical footprint and lower operational costs,” said Sergio Luiz Fontes, Senior Researcher at the National Observatory of Brazil.

This acquisition reflects STRYDE’s continued expansion into the Latin American market and underscores the growing global recognition of the company’s innovative approach to seismic acquisition for energy transition applications.
