TerraPower closed a $650 million funding round with backing from NVentures, Bill Gates, and HD Hyundai.
Funds will support the rollout of its Natrium® advanced nuclear reactor technology in the U.S. and globally.
NVIDIA joins TerraPower’s investor base, signaling nuclear’s rising role in powering AI and carbon-free energy needs.
TerraPower has raised $650 million in a major funding round backed by existing and new investors, including NVentures—NVIDIA’s venture capital arm—Bill Gates, and HD Hyundai.
The funding will accelerate the deployment of TerraPower’s Natrium® reactor, a next-generation nuclear solution paired with gigawatt-scale energy storage. The company began non-nuclear construction last year and expects nuclear regulatory approvals in 2025.

“TerraPower was founded on the idea that innovation in nuclear science could make positive, global impacts,” said Chris Levesque, President and CEO of TerraPower. “This round further establishes that our technologies are the solutions that industry is looking for. We are proud to have NVIDIA join our visionary group of investors.”

The investment also reflects growing alignment between AI infrastructure and clean energy innovation.
“As AI continues to transform industries, nuclear energy is going to become a more vital energy source to help power these capabilities,” said Mohamed “Sid” Siddeek, Corporate VP and Head of NVentures. “TerraPower’s nuclear reactor technologies offer innovative, carbon-free solutions to meet global energy needs while minimizing environmental impact.”
With the Natrium plant expected to be the first commercial advanced nuclear power facility in the U.S., TerraPower plans rapid expansion both domestically and internationally.
