Baker Hughes has secured a multi-year agreement with Petrobras to extend deployment of the Blue Marlin and Blue Orca stimulation vessels, supporting production optimization across Brazil’s offshore pre- and post-salt fields.
Awarded through an open tender, the contract also covers chemical supply and services, reinforcing Baker Hughes’ Mature Assets Solutions strategy aimed at maximizing brownfield recovery and extending field life.
The Blue Marlin and Blue Orca deliver advanced well stimulation treatments, including gravel pack and frac pack operations, while supporting well construction. Both vessels are equipped with onboard labs, high-pressure pumping systems, and chemical storage capacity that enable multiple operations without returning to port — reducing downtime and boosting efficiency.
“These vessels have long histories in Brazil, and their unmatched expertise has helped Petrobras make its pre-salt fields among the most productive in the world,” said Amerino Gatti, EVP of Oilfield Services & Equipment at Baker Hughes.
Baker Hughes highlighted that the majority of chemicals used by the vessels will be sourced domestically, supporting Brazil’s supply chain and localization strategy. Together, the two vessels have logged more than 650 perfect HSE days as of Sept. 1, earning Petrobras recognition for safety and operational excellence.
