Citing the latest Current Employment Statistics (CES) report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the Texas Independent Producers and Royalty Owners Association (TIPRO) have highlighted new employment figures showing a decrease in upstream employment in Texas in the month of July. According to TIPRO’s analysis, direct Texas upstream employment for July totaled 205,200, a decline of 1,400 industry positions from revised June employment numbers. This represented an increase of 200 jobs in oil and gas extraction and a decrease of 1,600 jobs in the services sector. As communicated in previous reports, TIPRO says fluctuations in monthly employment are…
Oil drifted lower, settling below $66 a barrel, as investors awaited a face-to-face summit between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin later Friday, an encounter with the potential to reshape crude flows from one of the world’s largest producers. Putin stepped up his charm offensive, praising Trump’s efforts to broker an end to the war in Ukraine. The US president downplayed hopes for a breakthrough in the more than three-year-old conflict, saying there’s a 25% chance the meeting won’t succeed. Any signs of progress toward peace would remove a layer of geopolitical risk from an oil market that’s expected to be heavily…
(World Oil)– Global oil markets are on track for a record surplus next year as demand growth slows and supplies swell, the International Energy Agency said. Oil inventories will accumulate at a rate of 2.96 million bpd, surpassing even the average buildup during the pandemic year of 2020, data from the IEA’s monthly report showed. World oil demand this year and next is growing at less than half the pace seen in 2023. At the same time, supplies are booming. The OPEC+ coalition, led by Saudi Arabia, has fast-tracked the restart of halted production, and the IEA has slightly bolstered forecasts…

Chevron has dispatched the first two Venezuelan crude cargoes to the U.S. since Washington restored its license to operate in the sanctioned nation last month. The Mediterranean Voyager and Canopus Voyager left Venezuelan waters on Friday loaded with Hamaca and Boscan heavy crudes, bound for the U.S. West Coast and Port Arthur, Texas, respectively. The move signals a tentative reopening of trade flows that had been abruptly halted earlier this year when the White House revoked Chevron’s license, triggering a 20% drop in Venezuela’s exports and straining its already battered oil sector. The reinstated license carries a crucial caveat: no revenues…
(Bloomberg) — Petroliam Nasional Bhd. is still discussing details of a cooperation framework with Sarawak’s oil company as part of efforts to resolve an ongoing dispute over gas resources in the state. The framework, first mooted in May following a joint declaration signed between Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Sarawak Premier Abang Johari Tun Openg, will be based on agreed principles, said Malaysia’s Law Minister Azalina Othman Said. “The impact on Petronas’s financial performance can’t be determined at this stage as the terms and implementation mechanisms are still under negotiation and have not been finalized,” Azalina said…
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman says having a kid has been “amazing” and thinks everyone else should have one, too.He also says AGI could maybe help with that.AGI, or artificial general intelligence, is a still theoretical version of AI that reasons as well as humans. Achieving AGI is the ultimate goal of many of the leading AI companies and is what’s largely driving the AI talent wars.Meanwhile, the world’s population growth is slowing down. In the United States, Gen Z and millennials are delaying having children or not having children at all to focus on their financial stability. Some prominent futurists,…
(Oil Price)– Indian Oil Corp has bought another cargo of U.S. West Texas Intermediate for delivery in October, Reuters reported today, citing unnamed industry sources. The deal is part of a recent streak of U.S. oil purchases following President Trump’s threat to impose additional tariffs on Indian exporters to the United States if the country continues buying Russian crude. The October deal was priced at a premium of between $2.80 and $2.90 to dated Brent, Reuters’ sources said. It is price that pushed India to step up Russian oil purchases in the first place, turning Russia from a minor exporter to…
(Bloomberg) — Centrica Plc signed a 10-year agreement to buy natural gas from Devon Energy Corp. to help expand its activities across the Atlantic. Centrica Energy, its trading arm, will receive 50,000 million British thermal units (MMBtu) per day of natural gas from 2028, or the equivalent of five liquefied natural gas cargoes per year, according to a statement on Friday. The volumes will be indexed to TTF, the European benchmark price. The deal expands Centrica’s global gas business after the recent announcement of a New York office. The agreement will also help the firm to manage the…
