The European People’s Party, the largest political party in the EU Parliament, has called on the European Commission to withdraw the proposed Green Claims Directive, aimed at protecting consumers from greenwashing claims about the environmental attributes of products and services, arguing that the new rules would be overly burdensome and complex, and that the positive impact of the directive is unclear. In a letter to EU Commissioner for Environment, Water Resilience and a Competitive Circular Economy Jessika Roswall, EPP representatives said that the party would not be able to endorse the new directive in upcoming trilogue negotiations between the Commission,…

These penalties were assessed during the June 2025 Commissioners’ Conference, with a total of $1,423,831.00 levied across various enforcement dockets according to The Railroad Commission of Texas. This as-told-to essay is based on a conversation with Elaine Ryan, a psychologist with two decades of experience. The following has been edited for length and clarity.I’m a psychologist. I don’t work with clients one-to-one anymore because I spend most of my days writing, but I still hear from people — past clients and readers.Over the past year, I’ve noticed a new kind of unease creeping into the conversations I have with people. They don’t come to me saying, “I have AI anxiety.” Just like no one used to say, “I have job anxiety” or “relationship anxiety.” They simply say,…
Nuclear technology company TerraPower announced the closing of a funding round which raised $650 million, securing investment from a mix of existing and new backers, including NVentures, the venture capital arm of NVIDIA. This is a significant milestone for the U.S.-based nuclear innovation company – which was founded by Microsoft’s Bill Gates, who currently serves as Chairman of the Board – as it looks to capitalize on mounting domestic support for the clean energy technology. Launched in 2006, TerraPower aims to use advanced nuclear technology to provide affordable and abundant carbon-free energy to meet growing electricity needs to enable economic…

Labor’s new environment laws won’t be ‘credible’ unless new projects consider climate change, advocates warn | Australian politics
The latest attempt to rewrite federal environmental protection laws won’t be “credible” unless it forces decision-makers to consider climate change when assessing projects, advocates have warned, as consultation on the changes begins.Select environment groups, miners, business and farming chiefs joined the new environment minister, Murray Watt, for a roundtable in Canberra on Thursday. The Climate Council chief executive, Amanda McKenzie, said the laws would remain “broken” without some mechanism to account for climate impacts, which she described as the “biggest concern for Australia’s environment”.“It is not good enough for the Australian government to push climate change out of the frame,” McKenzie…

(Bloomberg) – U.S. crude stockpiles declined the most in almost a year last week, signaling a tighter market for American oil just as the Israel-Iran conflict threatens supplies from the Middle East. Oil inventories dropped 11.5 million barrels in the week through June 13, the steepest slide since late June 2024, according to data released Wednesday by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA). The bulk of the decline came from the U.S. Gulf Coast, a key region that accounts for most U.S. oil exports. Stockpiles there are now the lowest since December 2023. The drawdown was driven by…
