The U.S. Senate on Tuesday voted to narrowly approve President Trump’s $3.3 trillion tax and spending package dubbed the ‘One Big Beautiful Bill.’ U.S. energy associations including the API, IPAA, NOIA and EWTC issued separate statements acknowledging the Senate’s decision as a victory for the U.S. oil and gas industry. “We applaud the Senate for passing the One Big Beautiful Bill to bolster America’s energy advantage and support economic growth,” said American Petroleum Institute (API) President and CEO Mike Sommers. “This historic legislation will help usher in a new era of energy dominance by unlocking opportunities for investment,…
(BOE Report) – Global imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) ticked higher in the first half of 2025 as stronger European demand pulled cargoes away from Asia. Total imports of the super-chilled fuel were 208.62 million metric tons in the first six months of this year, up 1.7% from the 205.11 million for the same period in 2024, according to data compiled by commodity analysts Kpler. Asia, the top LNG buyer, saw imports drop 9.09 million tons, or 6.4%, to 133.41 million, while Europe’s arrivals jumped 21.6%, or 11.8 million to 66.43 million. The numbers confirm that Europe is turning…

The future of the most important partnership in technology depends on Microsoft’s access to the artificial intelligence powering ChatGPT.When OpenAI first demoed a breakthrough feature in May 2024, allowing users to talk to its AI just like a person, it looked as if the company did so in lock-step with its partner and investor, Microsoft. Soon after OpenAI demoed this voice capability for its new GPT-4o model, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella included it in a keynote speech at the company’s Build developer conference.Behind the scenes, Microsoft had little knowledge of the feature until days before the demo, people involved in…

Momentary price spikes aside, the recent conflict and now uneasy ceasefire between Israel and Iran has done little to alter the trajectory of global oil markets, according to a new analysis by S&P Global Commodity Insights. The latest update to the S&P Global Commodity Insights Global Crude Oil Markets Short-term Outlook finds that existing expectations remain largely intact—oil supply growth will outpace demand growth and lower oil prices. “The underlying fundamentals of the global oil market remain profoundly unchanged,” commented Jim Burkhard, Vice President and Global Head of Crude Oil Research, S&P Global Commodity Insights. “OPEC+ members are…
Russia’s seaborne crude oil shipments barely budged in late June, holding near two-month lows despite a modest uptick from major ports. In the four weeks to June 29, crude exports averaged 3.21 million barrels per day (bpd)—up just 1% from the previous four-week period, according to Bloomberg tracking data. Weekly volumes sat around 3 million bpd, also little changed. While key terminals like Primorsk and Kozmino saw higher flows, declines from smaller ports—including Novorossiysk and Murmansk—nearly canceled out the gains. A total of 28 tankers carried 21 million barrels during the final week of June, only marginally down from the prior…
