Energy Department Aligns Award Criteria for For-profit, Non-profit Organizations, and State and Local Governments, Saving $935 Million Annually
WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) today announced three new policy actions that are projected to save more than $935 million annually for the American taxpayer, while expanding American innovation and scientific research. Devon Energy Corp. and Ridgemont Equity Partners are divesting their interests in a natural gas pipeline serving the Permian Basin with a capacity of about 2.5 billion cubic feet a day. Put onstream November 2024, the Matterhorn Express Pipeline is fully contracted. The system consists of a 510-mile mainline and associated compression that carries gas from the Waha area to Wharton, Texas. Permian Resources Corp. has signed a deal to buy New Mexico acreage with an expected second-quarter production of about 12,000 barrels of oil equivalent a day from APA Corp. for $608 million. The agreement will give the Midland, Texas-based oil and gas developer 13,320 net acres and 8,700 net royalty acres in the northern part of the Delaware Basin, a Permian sub-basin. The acreage would contribute over 100 gross operated locations stretching 2 miles that “immediately compete for capital”, Permian Resources said in its quarterly report.
