Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday directed officials to ensure seamless distribution of domestic cooking gas, and initiate steps to allay fears of people over LPG availability.
The CM held a review meeting at the Real Time Governance System (RTGS) with Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) executives to assess the state’s energy security in light of the West Asia conflict.
“The Chief Minister said cylinders should not be misused during gas delivery time,” said an official press release.
Likewise, the CM instructed officials to supply gas to domestic consumers without disruption.
Officials were asked about the measures taken to avoid LPG cylinders being diverted to the black market and the supply of gas to Anna Canteens, which offer subsidised food to people.
Meanwhile, officials informed the CM that currently 17,209 tons of LPG stocks was available in the state and 1,154 gas agencies are distributing gas through Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) and the Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL).
Directing officials to bring down the waiting period of gas cylinders, Naidu called for the monitoring of gas supply, stocks and bookings on a daily basis.
Also, he instructed officials to ensure that no disruptions occur in daily operations of hospitals, schools and temples.
The CM advised officials to engage with hotel associations to discuss strategies for reducing the consumption of LPG.
Officials informed the CM that the Centre is expected allocate more LPG stocks to Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka in the coming days.
Moreover, Naidu discussed bringing piped gas and induction stoves as an alternative to LPG, the press release added.
