Oil India Limited (OIL) on Wednesday said it signed a ‘Technology Service Agreement’ with French energy giant TotalEnergies to collaborate on exploration activities across India’s deep-water and ultra-deep-water offshore basins.
The partnership, the company said, establishes a framework for OIL to utilise TotalEnergies’ technical capabilities across its current and planned offshore portfolio.
This includes work on the ongoing appraisal of a gas discovery in the shallow offshore blocks of the Andaman Basin, exploration in ultra-deep-water OALP-IX blocks in the Mahanadi and Krishna-Godavari basins, and assessment of opportunities in OALP-X and future bid rounds.
The partnership will also support stratigraphic well drilling in offshore Category II and Category III basins.
“The strategic collaboration marks a significant milestone in OIL’s commitment to pursue exploration in offshore frontiers towards possible hydrocarbon discovery and secure sustainable energy future for India,” OIL said in a statement.
