(WO) – SLB OneSubsea has been awarded an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract by bp for a subsea boosting system to support development of the Tiber field in the deepwater U.S. Gulf of Mexico.
The system will be deployed as part of Tiber’s greenfield development targeting Paleogene reservoirs, one of the Gulf’s most technically challenging and capital-intensive resource plays. The award comes shortly after SLB OneSubsea secured a similar subsea boosting package for bp’s Kaskida project, with both fields set to use a standardized, supplier-led high-pressure pump system.
According to SLB OneSubsea, the use of identical pump technology across multiple developments is expected to reduce cost, shorten delivery timelines and streamline execution for bp. The company noted broader industry adoption of subsea boosting to increase recovery, minimize topside requirements and improve deepwater production economics.
bp has not released additional details about first oil timing or expected production capacity for Tiber.
