Chevron has reintroduced its Clarity® line of ashless hydraulic oils, unveiling two upgraded formulations — Clarity EliteSyn™ AW and Clarity® AW — developed to deliver high levels of equipment protection and operational efficiency while supporting environmental performance objectives.
The renewed Clarity product family reflects Chevron’s ongoing focus on sustainable lubrication technologies for heavy-duty applications across construction, marine, mining, and industrial operations, particularly in environmentally sensitive regions.
Clarity EliteSyn™ AW, formerly Clarity Synthetic AW, features a zinc-free, ashless formulation designed to eliminate heavy metals and reduce environmental risk. The oil incorporates Chevron’s VARTECH® technology to prevent varnish and sludge build-up and has demonstrated efficiency gains of up to 13% in fuel savings and 11% in productivity in excavator field trials. The synthetic blend also offers TOST life exceeding 10,000 hours, a high viscosity index, and a pour point below –40°C, supporting long service life in extreme operating environments.
Clarity® AW, previously Clarity Hydraulic AW, is a mineral-based, ashless formulation engineered for mobile and stationary hydraulic systems. Chevron said the fluid delivers extended oil life and wear protection while maintaining high filterability and compatibility, easing transitions from traditional zinc-based products.
“Clarity EliteSyn AW and Clarity AW reflect Chevron’s mission to deliver lubricants that not only excel in performance but also support our customers’ sustainability objectives,” said Max Cundiff, Industrial Sector Manager at Chevron.
Both products are available in multiple ISO viscosity grades through Chevron’s global lubricants network.
