Following the launch of the S-eWay as a chassis last year, Iveco is now also presenting its battery-electric truck as a tractor unit. Iveco is positioning the new version as a truck for long-distance and regional transport and confirm that it has a range of up to 600 kilometres – thanks to “a brand new generation of LFP batteries.”
The launch of the S-eWay Rigid in autumn 2024 will now be followed by the unveiling of the S-eWay Artic, with deliveries scheduled to begin in 2026. The model is a tractor unit with a 4×2 axle configuration, which is powered by a twin-engine electric axle from FPT Industrial (a sister brand of Iveco). The continuous output is 480 kW and the maximum torque is 1,800 Nm. Iveco also uses this drive in the chassis.
It is interesting to note that Iveco had already presented the S-eWay as a tractor unit at the Truck Grand Prix at the Nürburgring in 2023 and had already handed over the first units to customers. However, these units still had an NMC battery with a gross capacity of up to 738 kWh (via up to nine battery packs of 82 kW each) and a range of up to 500 kilometres. In contrast, the S-eWay Artic now presented explicitly uses LFP batteries with a gross capacity of 603 kWh (97% of which is usable) for a range of up to 600 kilometres. Three packs are installed transversely in the tractor unit for this purpose and, according to Iveco, can be charged from 20 to 80 per cent in 60 minutes with up to 350 kW.
In response to an enquiry from electrive, a spokesperson for the company stated that the batteries are LFP batteries from CATL and that the first generation of the S-eWay tractor unit from 2023 will be replaced by the S-eWay Artic with CATL batteries. Iveco also emphasises in its announcement that the energy storage systems are a ‘brand new generation’ and are designed for a service life of 12 years with a capacity retention of at least 70 per cent. It is worth noting that the chassis of the model also uses different batteries – four, five or seven Microvast batteries with 70 kWh each, which enables battery options of 280 kWh, 350 kWh or 490 kWh and should last for 400 kilometres in the maximum configuration.
But back to the S-eWay Artic: the space for the three transversely installed LFP packs has been achieved by installing a special 9-tonne full air front axle in combination with a wheelbase of 3,932 millimetres. This has offered flexibility in body configuration and load distribution, “allowing for more space to integrate large battery packs, balancing vehicle maneuverability and operational range,” Iveco wrote. Thanks to an “advanced thermal management system,” the electric truck’s batteries should be optimally usable even at extreme temperatures of -30 to +40 degrees Celsius. The manufacturer also offers a battery warranty of up to ten years and up to 1.2 million kilometres. Other highlights mentioned by the company include the already mentioned full air suspension for driving comfort and an optional ePTO to enable emission-free refrigerated transport solutions, for example.
The S-eWay Artic also has an elongated aero cab to optimise the air flow. The interior of the cab is closely modelled on the familiar layout of the S-eWay diesel series, with the exception of an HMI cluster specially developed for electric operation. A new 10-inch infotainment system sits at the centre of the cockpit. With regard to the service ecosystem, Iveco also offers everything from uptime solutions to fleet services and a driver app.

With a view to the van market, Iveco is also launching new light electric commercial vehicles in cooperation with Stellantis Pro One: the eJolly with a gross vehicle weight rating of 2.8 to 3.2 tonnes will compete in the medium van class, while the eSuper Jolly is positioned one class above at 3.5 to 4.25 tonnes. In terms of performance data, Iveco has announced that the eJolly has an output of 100 kW and 260 Nm of torque, with a choice of two batteries (49 or 75 kWh) for up to 224 or 352 kilometres. The manufacturer specifies the DC charging power as 100 kW and the payload as 1.175 tonnes.
The eSuper Jolly combines a motor with 200 kW of power and 410 Nm of torque with a 110 kWh battery for a range of up to 420 kilometres. The cargo space of the large van is said to offer a volume of up to 17 cubic metres, while Iveco puts the payload at up to 1.4 tonnes.
Deliveries of the eSuperJolly are scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2026, with the eJolly following in the second quarter of 2026. “The introduction of our eJolly and eSuperJolly, developed in collaboration with Stellantis Pro One, represents a significant milestone in our strategic journey,” commented Carlotta Mathis, Head of Strategy and Marketing at Iveco. “This achievement is especially meaningful as it unfolds in the year of our 50th anniversary.
